SomatXR data acquisition system is the ruggedised equivalent of QuantumX. It is used by across many industries where DAQ's are exposed to harsh conditions.

SomatXR modules are:

• Are designed to the degree of protection IP65/IP67 (dust, water)
• Have extended temperature range from -40 to +80 °C (dew-point proof)
• Vibration resistant up to 10 g (MIL-STD202G, Method 204D, Test condition C)
• Shock resistant up to 75 g (MIL-STD202G, Method 213B, Test condition B)

Like for QuantumX, each SomatXR measuring module is precise, reliable, and can be used as a standalone unit or integrated with other modules. Consequently, the number of channels starts at eight (8) and finishes at many hundreds.

Like QuantumX, SomatXR is modular and distributable. SomatXR modules can be used as small standalone independent data acquisition units, be stacked up, or be distributed and connected through Firewire or Ethernet so that they remain close to sensors and reduce noise.

A high number of sensor technologies can be connected to SomatXR modules, including:

• Full-bridge or half-bridge strain gauges (DC or 4.8 kHz carrier frequency)
• Quarter bridge strain gauges
• Current-fed piezoelectric transducers (IEPE / ICP® / Deltatron)

• Digital, high-resolution frequency inputs such as HBM’s torque sensors

• Passive inductive rotational speed sensors
• Pulse-width modulated signals (PWM)
• High voltage with 600 V CAT III, 1000 V CAT II, and 1250 V (non CAT)

Multiple measuring modules are available, each module type having its specificities, sampling rate and number of channels.

They include:

• SomatXR MX840B-R, a 8-channel universal DAQ, supporting 15 different sensor technologies, with a sampling rate of 40 kS/s
• SomatXR 1615B-R, a 16-channel amplifier for strain gauges (quarter, half or full bridge, DC or Carrier Frequency with 1.2 kHz), Voltage (60 V), Ohmic resistance, Pt100, Pt500, Pt1000 and potentiometric transducers
• SomatXR MX1601B-R, a 16-channel amplifier for piezoelectric transducers (IEPE, ICP, Deltatron), Voltage (±100 mV, ±10 and ±60 V) and Current (0/4 ... 20 mA)
• SomatXR MX411B-R a 4-channel, highly-dynamic universal amplifier reaching sampling rates at 100 kS/s per channel for 4 channels and 200 kS/s per channel for 2 channels
• SomatXR MX1609KB-R thermocouple amplifier with 16 channels for type K thermocouples
• SomatXR MX1609TB-R thermocouple amplifier with 16 channels for type T thermocouples
• SomatXR MX460B-R frequency amplifier with 4 channels and sampling rate at 100 kS/s for digital high resolution frequency input, pulse counter, encoder, passive inductive rotational speed sensor (AC coupled), pulse width modulated signals (PWM) and real-time calculation for Torsional Vibration Analysis
• SomatXR MX590B-R, a five channel pressure amplifier

Data recorders, gateways and input/output modules are also available. They include:

• SomatXR CX22B-RW, a ruggedised data logger and industrial computer
• SomatXR MX471C-R for CAN and CAN FD integration
• SomatXR CX27C-R, to integrate QuantumX measuring modules real-time into EtherCAT™ or PROFINET IRT network for control, automation or monitoring

All SomatXR modules can be driven using catman software. API's and external drivers are also available.
