Vibration Test Systems and Shakers for Space, Aerospace, and Defence

The scientific, technical, and economic activity around Space, Aerospace, and Defence is on the increase in both Australia and New Zealand and is driven by various factors.

NVMS and HBK support these activities in multiple ways, with specific expertise in various fields, one being vibrations.

Shakers, exciters, vibration test systems are various terms describing electrodynamic equipment able to mechanically excite or shake components or complete systems.

Famous for their precision and reliability, HBK LDS shakers come in various sizes.

Small ones, often with permanent magnets, are used across many universities to teach, to perform modal analysis or for research.

Low-force ones, with sine force peak between 0.94 kN and 5.12 kN, are often used to test aviation instrumentation, satellite components and electronic and mechanical subassemblies.

Middle-force ones with sine force peak between 9.81 kN and 57.8 kN, perform sine sweeps, random sweeps and shock tests on larger satellite components, larger electronic assemblies and military hardware.

Large-force ones with sine force peak up to 289.1 kN and pay load up to 5,000 kg, support the testing of complete systems.

The last two categories can be supplied with slip tables while large-force shakers can be air-cooled or water-cooled.

For even larger payloads, several HBK LDS shakers can be combined and synchronized, sharing the load between systems.

Beside fantastic shakers, NVMS and HBK offer strong local support, amplifiers, controllers, software, accelerometers, and local NATA-accredited calibration. Additional sensors and data acquisition systems are also supplied so that vibration profiles on-board equipment can be measured. This guarantees system compatibility, performance, and clarity in responsibility.

The number of HBK LDS vibration test systems already installed in New Zealand and Australia gives the opportunity to most organisations to first outsource the use of these systems before investing and internalising the technical capabilities.
