Monitoring complex gearboxes can be quite a challenge, especially for multi-stage planetary gearbox setups. A lot of noise occurs within your data due to the many gear meshes, which makes it hard to identify bearing and gear faults accurately and when data is only taken on a routine basis, these faults can easily be missed.
NVMS and Bently Nevada provide great technologies to make this data collection easier and more reliable, especially with their brand-new product, the Orbit DCM. The Orbit DCM is a 16 channel simultaneous edge data collection system with 24-bit A/D conversion to give you high precision data collection, which enables you to collect readings up to 32K samples per waveform and utilise the new PeakDemod algorithm for early detection of repetitive events. Pair this with its 12,800 LOR, multiple state based configurations and connection to System 1 and you have the perfect tool to help you understand the health of your complex gearboxes.

And for Complex Gearboxes especially, Bently Nevada has designed an algorithm to help you gauge the severity of damage within a gearbox, known as SER or Sideband Energy Ratio. This algorithm gives you a unitless value that you can trend to see how the severity of your asset changes over time and provide context to the data you are reviewing.
Whether you are responsible for Wind Turbines, HPGR’s or other assets with complex gearboxes, NVMS has a solution to help you. Please reach out to NVMS today at info@nvms.com.au for more information.
